Medical Sickroom-Fundraising of R300 000
Our medical sickbay project was initiated with a fundraising drive during 2016 and as a result we received two sources of income (i) R26 000 from our Dutch volunteer Malou Loohuis who was successful with a crowdfunding drive and (ii) a donation from Afrisun of R148 000, resulting in a total of R174 000. These funds were used to purchase medical equipment.
We are fundraising to cater for building alterations to expand our sickroom and to this end we estimate we need ±R300 000. This room will provide the residents with a medically equipped facility of 4 beds for the ill and/or older residents and those that need “quiet time” to recuperate from illness.
